The impact of company supply chain systems on the environment is a "major concern" to a majority of UK business owner, new research has suggested.In a new study by PMP Research, commissioned by the Evaluation Centre, it emerged that 55 per cent of UK business owners said the environment was either "very important" or "important" to them.In addition, 67 per cent of company bosses claimed that customers were placing environmental demands on them.Business owners say their main area of concern is CO2 emissions from transport along with packaging.However, British businesses say they are making progress, with 52 per cent of firms claiming to have made "significant" improvements in supply chain efficiency over the last year, with a majority of businesses planning further environmental improvements over the next two years.The Evaluation Centre is on of the UK’s leading providers of e-procurement services.
