Entrepreneurs from across London and the south east of England came together in London last night (Wednesday) to celebrate their success at the last regional gala final of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Now in its sixth year, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards celebrates the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs in the UK.

Pippa Murray, the founder of natural nut butter start-up, Pip & Nut, won the night’s final award, walking away ‘Great British Entrepreneur of the Year for London & the South East’.

Pippa launched the business just four years ago with no prior experience in the industry, and it is now stocked by the UK’s four largest supermarkets and around the world. Her inspiration came from her own marathon training and her love of peanut butter, but was concerned with the high levels of refined sugars, palm oil and saturated fats. And Pippa wanted a healthier version.

Francesca James, co-founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, said: “Pippa has a tremendous entrepreneurial story, and one that the judges and the team fell in love with. She saw a problem with something in her everyday life, and like a true entrepreneur, decided to do something about it. Pippa is relatively early in her entrepreneurial journey, and we can’t wait to see where Pip & Nut goes next.”

Winners were crowned across 12 categories in total including Entrepreneurial Spirit, Entrepreneurs’ Team and Family Business.

Francesca added: “2018 has been a record year for the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the number of entries we received. But the quality of applications has been above and beyond what we’ve seen in previous years.

“Just getting to the gala final as a finalist is a huge achievement given the competition on show, so to walk away with a trophy in your hand deserves huge congratulations.”
