Dixons Retail has announced a rise in Currys PC World sales following a strong Christmas period.
The electrical retailer that owns Currys and PC World said Boxing Day was Dixons’ biggest ever day in the UK.
In the three months to January 4, like-for-like sales were up by 5% in the UK and Ireland. And internet sales saw a big leap. Dixons’ online sales were up by 23%.
The group’s chief executive, Sebastian James said business “took off like a rocket”.
Mr James said: “This has been a lively Christmas with plenty of ups and downs and I am pleased to report that we have turned in a good performance,”
“We have consolidated last year’s strong gains and I am confident that we have gained further market share.”
Dixons saw faster growth in the UK than in its European stores. Sales did increase on the continent, but by 3% compared with the 5% in the UK.
