After a brilliant start to this initiative with Karina Sudenyte and Maciek Kacprzyk from Flawsome! in January, we’re delighted to announce February’s winner of the Entrepreneurial Spirit campaign.
Every month, we’re celebrating a member of the GBEA community who has shown incredible entrepreneurial spirit. And, as a reward, Glen Scotia Single Malt Whisky will be sending bottles of its classic Double Cask and 15 Year Old single malt Scotch whiskies.
February’s winner is Sanjay Lobo, founder of onHand!
onHand is a volunteering app that has been described as “Uber for volunteers”. It allows people to request some help with small, simple things and matches them with local and vetted volunteers from a community of over 10,000, simply and quickly.
We’re recognising Sanjay this month because of onHand’s campaign to raise awareness of loneliness among colleagues. Warning that nearly a quarter of millennials can’t name a single friend, onHand is helping businesses and workers to spot the signs of loneliness and providing the support they need to encourage wellbeing.
Iain McAlister, distillery manager at Glen Scotia Single Malt Scotch Whisky, said: “Sanjay’s work through onHand has benefitted society’s vulnerable and made volunteering more easily accessible, particularly for organisations who want to encourage employees to give back to the community.
“Our remote home of Campbeltown has always been a small, tight-knit community with people pulling together for one another, and it’s something we at Glen Scotia Single Malt Whisky have always been proud to support, be it commissioning single casks for local businesses or finding new ways to partner with our neighbours and friends. So, it feels fitting to be able to recognise Sanjay’s excellent work through our Entrepreneurial Spirit competition with Great British Entrepreneur Awards.”
