Launched by the creators of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Food & Drink Heroes will recognise and champion entrepreneurs within the UK’s food and drink industry.

Starling Bank is an award-winning and fully-licensed bank built to give people a fairer, smarter and more human alternative to the banks of the past. Starling was founded in 2014 by Anne Boden, after a lengthy career at the top of some of Britain’s leading banks, to transform the way people manage their money. It has opened more than two million accounts and has been voted Best British Bank for three years running.

Francesca James, founder of Food & Drink Heroes, says: “I’m delighted to build on the work we’ve done with Starling Bank to celebrate entrepreneurs through the Great British Entrepreneur Awards by joining forces again on Food & Drink Heroes.

“Starling really understands the challenges that entrepreneurs face and the support they require. At a time when so many food and drink businesses are struggling through a pandemic, this understanding from organisations like Starling is vital.”

Helen Bierton, Chief Banking Officer at Starling Bank, said: “The combination of the pandemic and Brexit has posed immense challenges to the food and drink sector. It’s great to see that so many companies have rallied round, contributing to food banks, eliminating food waste and continuing to feed the nation during successive lockdowns.”

The awards programme will consist of 13 categories, including Innovation Entrepreneur of the Year, Confectionary Entrepreneur of the Year and Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year.

Entries will be assessed by some of the UK’s most successful food and drink entrepreneurs, as well as industry experts.

Entries are open until Friday 22nd January 2021, with the awards ceremony taking place in Spring 2021.
