The Bank of England have confirmed that a new £50 note will be released on November 2nd.
The new-style note’s design was revealed back in 2009, featuring entrepreneur Matthew Boulton and engineer James Watt, who pioneered the use of steam engines in textile manufacturing, and is now ready to come into circulation.
As well as the new design the note will feature a range of enhanced security features, thus making forgery harder.
It will be the first time that two portraits will appear together on the reverse of one of the country’s banknotes.
At first both the old and new notes will be circulated, although over time the old style note will be withdrawn. The Bank will announce an official date for the full withdrawal of the old style not in due course.
