With the recent proliferation of smartphones, the increasing use of mobile internet across the UK may come as no surprise. More surprising, however, are the results of research carried out by the Carphone Warehouse, which shows its use has spread to some unusual places...
11% of survey respondents admitted to surfing the internet while on a date, and half of all male respondents admitted to surfing on the loo. Social networking sites were cited as the main reason for using the devices, though 20% more women use it for this than men.
7 in 10 observe increased use of mobile internet than they did a year ago and 64% admitted to being ‘anti social’ through their surfng.
The research was carried out by the Carphone Warehouse to coincide with their new, limitless data package. UK trading director at the company, Mark Eastham commented:
“As this research shows, people are using their phones for much than just calling and texting, but in doing so are often faced with higher costs. We want people to be able to get the most from their technology, even in the face of such a difficult economic climate, which is why we hope customers will really take advantage of this great deal. There’s a range of tariffs to suit all budgets and an impressive range of 30 smartphones to choose from. It really represents excellent value and is another UK first for The Carphone Warehouse.”
