Warren Buffett, the billionaire US investor, has donated $1.78 billion (£1.1 billion) to a host of charities.
The bulk of the money donated went to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in the form of 23.31 million shares in MR Buffett's investment company, Berkshire Hathaway.
Mr Buffett, now eight years of age, announced in 2006 that he intended to give away 99% of his wealth, and this is the sixth major donation he has made since then.
This latest offering sees the total amount of shares given away in Berkshire Hathaway rise to $11 billion.
