Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has confirmed that Wales will receive £57 million from the UK government to improve its broadband coverage.
The sum includes the £10 million promised by Chancellor George Osbourne back in February.
According to Mr Hunt, once the new infrastructure is in place 90% of Welsh homes and offices will have access to super fast broadband.
The announcement has been met with relief from the Countryside Alliance, who said the decision was 'not before time' as it was 'a necessity'.
The UK government has said every community in the UK will gain access to super-fast broadband by 2015 under plans outlined in December.
