Mobile network operator Vodafone has announced plans to offer broadband services from 2015.
Vodafone already offers broadband services in Europe, and it also launched a TV service in the Netherlands recently.
It is understood the mobile network operator is introducing broadband to fight off competition from BT which plans to enter the mobile market next year.
Vodafone will have to agree a wholesale deal with BT in order to make the final link at homes to provide internet access.
Similar deals could be made with Virgin Media and BSkyB in and attempt to boost its TV offering.
Vodafone joins the likes of EE, which last month launched its own broadband-based TV service in an attempt to ward off BT.
The recession is over. It's time to grow!
