The US economy is growing at its fastest rate for 11 years, according to the US Commerce Department.

Figures show that the economy grew by 5% in the third quarter, compared with the previous year. It compares to 4.6% growth in the second quarter.

Initial estimates forecast growth of 3.9% for the July-September period. But strong consumer and business spending helped contribute to improved growth.
