Reports circulating the internet claiming that the union behind the 6 scheduled strikes on the London Underground appear unfounded.
Following a tribunal’s assertion that the focus of the strikes, driver Eamonn Lynch, was in fact unfairly dismissed on security grounds, it was believed that negotiations would be underway.
"Following a meeting with the RMT leadership this morning the RMT have withdrawn their threat of industrial action, and we have avoided significant disruption for London," said London Underground Managing Director Mike Brown to Reuters.
Mr. Brown’s comment appears invalid after RMT- the union calling the strikes- press centre contact, Geoff Martin, stated the strikes had not been called off.
Mr. Martin was unable to offer further comment beyond denying that the strikes had been called off.
