Unemployment levels in the UK are 'showing some improvement' as they fell by 51,000, to reach 2.61 million for the three months to April.
The official data, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), comes as further good news, following Tuesday's drop in inflation.
The ONS's data also showed that the jobless rate fell to 8.2%, although there was a slight rise in the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance.
Whilst female unemployment fell by only 1,000, there was better news in the youth unemployment figures, as the total number fell by 29,000 to just over one million.
