Official government figures have revealed that the average price of unleaded petrol has reached a new record high.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said the average price of unleaded petrol in the UK was 137.3 pence per litre on Monday 5 March, which was 1.1p higher than the week before.
This surpasses the previous record high of 137.05p, back in May 2011.
The rising cost of oil, due to tensions over Iran's nuclear plans, has seen the cost of fuel pushed up over the past few weeks.
