Met Office ‘Heavy Snow’ warnings have been issued for; South West England, East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber and North East England. ‘Heavy Snow’ warnings are issued when the Met Office has 80% or greater confidence that severe weather is expected in the next few hours.

It is going to be another very cold day and drivers are warned not to travel if at all possible.

The Met Office forecast for tonight is that; “Snow showers will become increasingly confined to eastern coasts, elsewhere mostly dry with clear spells. Some freezing fog patches developing. Becoming exceptionally cold, especially in northern England and Scotland.”

Gatwick Airport was expected to open this morning but will now remain closed until at least 6:00 a.m. on Friday.
On the trains there is severe disruption with many cancellations.
