A total of 46 high profile individuals, including celebrities and politicians, have been labelled as ‘core participants’ in the ongoing Leveson Inquiry in to media ethics and practices following the News of the World phone-hacking scandal.
The list includes J.K. Rowling, Sienna Miller and Hugh Grant, as well as MPs Tessa Jowell. Even the parents of Madeline McCann have made it onto the list assuring them access to legal protection as well as access to the inquiry chair.
Rebekah Brooks had applied to be made a core participant, though her application was turned down by the head of the inquiry, Lord Justice Leveson.
