Speaking yesterday morning (Thursday) at a the UKTI's Exporting for Growth conference in London, Prime Minister David Cameron outlined the pivotal role that small businesses play in the economy, stressing the greater need to focus on exports in light of lowered domestic demand.
“TheCityUK welcomes the Government’s series of new measures to help Britain’s small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) grow and create jobs, export to new markets and secure finance," Chris CUmmings, CEO of TheCityUK said responding to the Prime Minister's comments.
“Encouraging export growth and ensuring businesses are financially fit for growth is critical. Today’s announcements offer practical help for SMEs with financial services playing a central role in helping these businesses to grow.
“These announcements build on the Government’s plans to rebalance towards growth based on an internationally competitive economy, led by the private sector. This supports TheCityUK’s objective to build partnerships with the emerging geographic centres of capital accumulation and to encourage businesses in those countries to draw on the expertise of the diverse business clusters resident here.”
