The new Google Search Appliance provides a bridge to the 'cloud' connecting public information to internal data sources, keeping search results in context to external factors.

Aimed at larger companies who may be geographically distributed, this product addresses key needs - information discovery and utilisation.

More and more important business information now exists in the cloud.

More and more businesses have started using cloud based applications from Google and others, especially as the tools become more collaborative and now can access external sources that includes Twitter, blogs and industry websites with Google Docs, Google Sites, content management systems and file sharing repositories.

The Google Search Appliance lets workers search across both on-premise and cloud-based content from a single search box, delivering more comprehensive results and improving productivity.

In particular Google sites People Search and Dynamic Navigation as two key enhancements that further increase employee productivity. Both have come from client demand with Dynamic Navigation being a top user request.

We expect to report more on cloud based applications, systems and service providers in future editions of our news.
