Last night the curtain came down on the first half of London 2012 which has been widely heralded as the first ‘Social Media Olympics’.
The opening ceremony alone generated 9.66 million mentions on micro-blogging site Twitter beating the entire haul for Beijing in the first evening.
The following 16 days saw well over 150 million Tweets about the Olympics and no surprise that the biggest moments of competition, as measured by Tweets per minute (TPM), were when Usain Bolt won his second gold of the games in the 200 metres with 80,000 plus TPM.
The Paralympic Games begin on Wednesday 29 August and if you want to keep up with all the latest news & views you can follow @C4Paralympics and @Paralympic.
