In the space of just seven months, York Science Park start-up business The Distance has expanded so rapidly that its floor space has had to triple to cater for the size of its new team.

“It’s fantastic to see the rapid growth of The Distance and hear of their plans for future expansion in 2012. I am proud to see York Science Park businesses succeed despite the current economic climate," Tracey Smith, York Science Park Managing Director, said.

Specialists in ecommerce, mobile applications and internet marketing, The Distance is based within York Science Park’s Springboard in the Ron Cooke Hub on the University of York’s new campus development. Springboard provides space and business support, enabling entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into commercially viable businesses.

From 1st January 2012 the two companies forming The Distance brand, Mobile DynamiX and Media Make, have merged and are now trading under the single entity known as The Distance Agency Ltd.

“Merging the two agencies has been a resounding success in my opinion. Ryan’s youth, energy and ambition, combined with my years of experience and virtuosity form a perfect combination and foundation for our creative digital agency,” Anthony Main, Mobile Director at The Distance, said.

The Distance has numerous plans in place already for 2012 including further development of The Core — a mobile web service platform — and the launch of an app framework for financial accountants.
