Sony Ericsson hesitantly forecast continued growth in the global handset market in 2010.
With 4% market share in units and 6% in value, Sony Ericsson revealed their net cash position of Euro 538 million in results published this week to September 30, 2010.
Bert Nordberg, President & CEO of Sony Ericsson commented, "Our third consecutive quarter of profitable results illustrates that Sony Ericsson's overall performance is stabilising. Our strategy to focus on the smart phone segment is succeeding and smart phones now comprise more than 50% of our total sales. During the quarter, we launched our Android-based Xperia(TM) models in new markets, such as China and the U.S., and it is our ambition to become the global number one handset provider on the Android platform."
The gross margin percentage was 30% and almost doubled year-on-year.
This further evidence shows the success and acceptance of smart phones and in particular Google’s YouTube capable handset operating system Android.
Their Financial statement reiterated that their vision is to become the industry leader in Communication Entertainment; where new styles of communicating through the internet and social media, become entertainment.
It seems that this is a company, that despite their recent woes are both in recovery and a firm to watch. You can be certain of further coverage from me.
