Scotland fly-half Finn Rusell has appealed against his two-week ban for a dangerous tackle in the 23-26 defeat to Wales at Murrayfield.

The Six Nations Disciplinary Committee found Russell's challenge on Wales fly-half Dan Biggar to have constituted a dangerous tackle on an opponent in the air.

Biggar rose highest for his own kick, but Russell mis-timed his jump and instead pulled out of the challenge. He turned his back before colliding with Biggar who was in mid-air. The Welshman then fell to the ground and landed nastily on his shoulder and neck.

Russell was shown a yellow card by referee Glen Jackson but was later given a two-week ban by the disciplinary committee.

If successful in his appeal, the Glasgow Warriors fly-half is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up for the fixture against France.
