After Steve Jobs announces he is taking medical leave, Hewlett-Packard announces a massive overhaul of its board.

But the biggest news of the week is that Larry Page returns to the post of CEO at Google.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt brought in a decade ago, said on Twitter "Day to Day Adult supervision no longer needed!"

The announcement upstaged Google's own good news fourth quarter earnings report. There is a cry going out that says don't fix it if it ain’t broken!

So in one week, significant helm changes at three of silicon valleys biggest companies.

For Google at this time it's important to recognise that Facebook presents stiff competition. It's an area that Google has not been so successful with.

Larry Page says "Google is an incredible opportunity. When he started it, people thought we were coming in too late, there were too many search engines. It was early then, it's early now. I can't wait to get started".

Well if you can't wait to get started, then now might be the time to subscribe to this channel, you can do that right away, right now. Google is after all barely a teenager, with billions to burn, the Google story will inevitably continue and I will be covering events as they unfold.

Of course if you want to forward this to a friend, you can do that too. Or perhaps you would prefer to "like" this presentation or leave a comment, go ahead and do that now.

Danny Sullivan editor of SearchEngineLand says that despite its profits, Google is a company with a "declining reputation". A few years ago they could do no wrong.

You too can do no wrong if you pop over to my website over at weboptimiser.com that I set up before Google existed - BG.
