Today is the day. After two years of campaigning, rallies, speeches, polls, debates, businesses warning against the troubles, businesses saying Scotland can flourish, the Scottish public heads to the polling stations to vote on independence. 'Yes' or 'No', Scotland decides.

It is expected to be the biggest ever electoral vote in Scotland; an estimated 4.3 million people have registered to vote, which is around 97% of the eligible population and includes around 100,000 16 and 17-year olds who are voting in a major election for the first time.

Polling stations opened at 7am with queues outside and will close at 10pm. Although we don't know exactly when the decision will come, it is thought an announcement will be made at around 6am tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Throughout the day, we'll be bringing you the latest on what British businesses think about the possibility of Scottish independence.
