Sir Richard Branson is backing Liverpool’s mission to be a world capital for entrepreneurship as he is announced as headline speaker at the city’s Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) 2012 - the world’s largest global gathering of startup champions.

Sir Richard has given his support to Liverpool as it takes steps to transform itself into a globally recognised home of entrepreneurship.

“A strong economy needs to encourage entrepreneurs to create and grow their businesses. It is great to see the Kauffman Foundation backing Britain by bringing the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, a showcase of entrepreneurial talent, to Liverpool this March. I'm very happy to be supporting the event," he said.

Seen as one of, if not the, most prominent and successful entrepreneurs of our generation, Branson has gone from nothing to everything, and his business knowledge and experience is priceless. That he is speaking at two major events is a real bonus, and an opportunity not to be missed.

Business 2012, which is a free to attend event at London's O2 running from March 18th-20th, with 600 workshops, seminars and exhibitors and 50 keynote speakers, is intended to support anyone who is serious about growing or developing their business.

"I will be at Business 2012, being interviewed live on stage and answering questions and your tweets. No one has a monopoly on good ideas and I hope events like this will open the door to greater connections and business opportunities: something we all need during these challenging times,” Branson said.

If you are serious about developing your business, or are simply starting out, these are two 'must attend' events.
