Rebekah Brooks will return to Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp as chief executive in the UK on Monday.

Ms Brooks was cleared of all charges relating to the phone-hacking scandal last year.

The former News of the World editor resigned from the company in 2011 after more and more details surrounding the scandal were revealed.

At the time, she was given a £16 million payout by News International.

Rebekah Brooks said: "It is a privilege to be back amongst the most talented journalists and executives in the business. I am confident that we can meet the many challenges of this digital age with a combination of cutting edge technologies and world class journalism."

The Sun's editor, David Dinsmore, will become NewsCorp's chief operating officer. And Tony Gallacher, deputy editor of the Daily Mail and former Telegrpah editor, will take his place at The Sun.
