Public sector borrowing was down slightly in October, compared with last year, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The government borrowed £7.7bn in October, down by £0.2bn on the amount borrowed in October last year.

However, in the six months between April and October, the government borrowed £64.1bn, a rise of £3.7bn on the same period last year.
