Peacocks, the Cardiff-based retailer who had been facing closure, have been sold from administration to Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
Whilst the sale comes as good news, given that some 6,000 jobs have been saved, it is a bitter sweet sale, as some 3,100 jobs will still be lost.
Of the 6,000 jobs safeguarded throughout the UK, 250 are at the company's head offices in Cardiff.
The deal to buy Peacocks will include 338 stores, 57 concessions, three distribution centres and the head office, said Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
