Paddy Power are set to open legal proceedings against The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (Locog) following the decision to order them to takedown advertising billboards.

Locog have ordered JCDecaux to take down controversial billboards promoting the bookmaker's sponsorship of an athletics event in London, France.

In response Paddy Power has asked law firm Charles Russell to seek a court order on its behalf on the grounds that the campaign does not breach legislation on advertising around the 2012 Games.

Only official sponsors of the Games are permitted to advertise, and none of those sponsors are betting companies. Further to that the IOC has strict rules on betting being linked to the Olympics.
