North East firms are being invited to explore the export potential offered by China, one of the world’s fastest growing markets.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) will be hosting a Market Visit to Changsha and Zhuzhou, in China’s Hunan Province from 2 to 10 November to offer companies an insight into the many business opportunities on offer.
Changsha is the capital of Hunan Province and is also one of China’s most economically advanced cities in terms of politics, economy, finance, culture and education. Zhuzhou and the neighbouring city of Xiangtan are the second and third largest cities in the province and key industrial bases for southern China.
Zhengming Yang, China Business Development Manager for UK Trade & Investment in the North East, who will accompany the delegation, said: “The three cities of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan together make up one of the 13 Chinese supersized cities and are definitely on the rise. Their growth has been fuelled both by the large-scale internal migration of those seeking better lives and by government initiatives encouraging the expansion of more and more united urban areas.
“This offers huge business opportunities for UK companies and key sectors include heavy industry, machinery, machine tools, textiles, agricultural chemicals, pumping machinery, vehicle manufacturing, green energy and environmental protection products, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, transportation and electronics."
Companies have until 30 August to register their interest. There is a 50 per cent discount on Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS)reports for eligible companies taking part in the visit to provide in-depth research into the market and highlight potential business contacts.
