Lance Armstrong has had his contract with Nike terminated after the sports giant decided that the evidence against the American was 'insurmountable'.
Nike stated that "due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Armstrong participated in doping... we have terminated his contract".
The news is a further blow to Armstrong, who also stepped down from his position as chairman for the Livestrong charity as his life unravels before his eyes.
It has been the week that has defined Armstrong's life. The United States Anti-Doping Agency released a report containing accusations of widespread doping by Armstrong and his teams, and as Nike suggest, the evidence is so compelling it is hard to see anything other than Armstrong being ruined.
Once the hero for so many, both in and out of sport, it seems the American is destined to be remembered for being the greatest drugs cheat ever seen in sport.
