It will be easier to punish those found guilty of corporate tax evasion under new plans revealed by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury today (Thursday).
Danny Alexander told Parliament that it would become a criminal offence for a company to aid economic crime, such as tax evasion.
Tax investigation authorities were boosted by the news that they will no longer have to proof "intent to evade tax" during its investigations.
The move comes after having to prove intent has been identified as one of the biggest barriers to prosecution by market experts.
