Strike action is due to begin on the tubes at 21:00 today and run until 03:00 on Monday.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) leadership called the strike in support of a member of staff dismissed for abusive behaviour towards his colleagues, despite the fact that the employment tribunal process to which the union agreed has not concluded and has made no findings, interim or final.

However Tube bosses at London Underground have said that the strike will have 'very little impact' on passengers and urged RMT leadership to abandon strike action and await tribunal outcome.

The RMT is planning further strike action from 27th June to cause disruption at the same time as the tennis in Wimbledon.
