"I am absolutely delighted that the talks at Cancun reached a successful outcome and very pleased that the UK, and Chris Huhne in particular, played such an important role."

Commenting on the climate change deal reached in Cancun, Liberal Democrat MP Martin Horwood, who attended the talks, said:

"I am absolutely delighted that the talks at Cancun reached a successful outcome and very pleased that the UK, and Chris Huhne in particular, played such an important role.

"We have a deal on a new Green Climate Fund, on deforestation and on more ambitious emission reduction targets for developed countries but the whole deal could have been derailed by arguments over the Kyoto Protocol.

"Chris Huhne was personally involved in addressing that issue and making sure the talks weren't wrecked. I can't tell you how relieved I am that Nick Clegg took the politically high risk decision to keep Chris in Cancun despite the tuition fees vote and very disappointed indeed that Ed Miliband refused to co-operate and was prepared to put Chris's central role in such vital talks in jeopardy. His green credentials should now be in tatters."
