Luxury German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz have reported their best half-year sales on record.
Growing demand in China, as well as other emerging economies, was the main reason for the sales figures, which rose 10% for the same six month period in 2010.
The biggest growth markets were Russia, up by 70%, and China, up by 50%, as the car maker sold 610,531 passenger cars.
"The first half of the year went very well for Mercedes-Benz," said Dr Joachim Schmidt, executive vice president of sales and marketing.
"We achieved double-digit growth increases in many markets, our products are in demand and we succeeded in setting a new record."
On the back of the opening six months Mercedes are now aiming to sell 1.3 million cars by the end of 2011, which would represent their best figures ever for a calendar year.
