The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, today (Tuesday) welcomed Spurs' commitment to work with him and Haringey Council to progress the development of its new stadium at Northumberland Park.
He also called on the club to urgently accelerate its business plans and deliver its part of the huge investment package so crucial to the regeneration of Tottenham and the hopes of all its people.
This follows the Mayor's announcement today that he is investing over £41 million through his Regeneration Fund into major infrastructure and public realm improvements as well as into new jobs and skills development in Tottenham.
£27 million, including £9 million from Haringey, will go specifically into North Tottenham/Northumberland Park and, combined with Tottenham Hotspur FC's planned £400 million investment there in its new stadium, will unlock and maximise huge regeneration opportunities throughout the area.
"I am committed to securing Tottenham's long-term future and the time has come for Spurs to show it's commitment to the area by investing with urgency and determination to deliver the jobs and growth desperately needed in this much-neglected part of our city," the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said.
