A victory for Manchester United against fierce rivals Liverpool in the Premier League today (Saturday) will be worth more than just three points to the leaders.
Research has shown that, in monetary terms, the cost of winning a Premier League game is £7.2 million. But given the rivalry between the two clubs it will be more about the football than the money.
That said, the research by Professor Stefan Szymanski of the Cass Business School in London, found that the more clubs spend on players and their wages, the more points they win over the season.
So, given their respective spendings one would assume Manchester United will win, but then football doesn't listen to money.
