Jessops, the UK’s leading photographic retailer, has been shortlisted as Best Multi Channel Retailer for the prestigious e-Commerce Awards for Excellence 2010. The winner will be revealed at the awards ceremony at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel on the evening of Tuesday, 19 October.

Jessops is up against B&Q, Boots UK Limited and Marks & Spencer for the coveted award. The e-Commerce Awards for Excellence hosted by IMRG and its distinguished panel of judges, drawn from across the IMRG Membership, have reviewed all the entries and after hours of deliberation decided on the shortlist for each category.

“We’re thrilled to have been nominated for this prestigious award” said Jessops' head of e-Commerce, Simon Joseph. “Jessops believes in providing quality and dedication to its customers, which is reflected in its 200+ UK stores and through its dedicated website. Jessops’ multichannel strategy integrates both online and offline activity and has been developed to include rich online content such as staff reviews, videos and blogs to enhance the customer experience.

“Jessops mobile enable website has undergone a significant transformation to ensure a positive online experience for our customers. Jessops continually updates its website with the latest products, news and special offers, many of which are exclusive online, to differentiate from the in-store offering and meet customer demand. We are continuing to see excellent growth online, with online sales now accounting for 22% of business.”

The e-Commerce Awards for Excellence are unique in the UK and will bring the whole industry together to celebrate its’ success. The awards categories have been carefully selected to show off the broad range of skills that are required for successful e-Commerce as well as reflecting the contribution that e-Commerce can make to society and the environment.

The judges are looking for the retailer which can demonstrate “excellent choice, user experience and strong sales and evidence that the retailer is truly committed to e-Commerce, understands its importance in the retail mix and constantly innovates and uses e-Commerce to benefit the wider business.” *

The event, which will be hosted by One Show presenter, author and raconteur Hardeep Singh Kohli, is certain to be a success. Last year, more than 300 people attended the inaugural awards ceremony - a who's who of the most senior decision makers enjoying a great evening and recognising the companies who are the driving force of the online industry.

If Jessops wins the award it will be the latest in a long line for the brand, which has most recently won Best Retailer at the Gear of the Year Awards in London. This year, Jessops celebrated its 75th anniversary, with a warm response from public and press alike who have been pleased to see this stalwart of the British high street continuing to grow from strength to strength. 2010 has seen Jessops roll out brand new customer-friendly store refits across the country and invest heavily in staff training to ensure customers receive the best retail experience possible. The brand continues to see excellent growth through its online retail site www.jessops.com, with online sales now accounting for 22% of business.

Jessops continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the photographic retail industry, and is certain to remain synonymous with quality and advice that’s second to none.
