Despite the fact that St James' Palace yesterday launched legal proceedings against the publishers of Closer magazine in France for publishing the topless photos of The Duchess of Cambridge we now learn that Italian gossip magazine Chi has also stated it will publish the photos.
Both of these magazines are owned by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi although the UK edition of Closer is run by a different company and understandably is distancing itself from its French namesake.
A spokesperson for the couple said:
"The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so.Their royal highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs let alone publish them."
Although UK paper The Sun published photos of Prince Harry naked in a Vegas hotel room it says it will never publish these photos of Kate because they fall into a different category;
“She was on a private holiday in a private chateau. The path from which the photographer took his pictures was a mile away. She had every expectation of privacy.”
