A social media company has issued what is believed to be the world's first job description written entirely in code.
Woto advertised the position for a graduate internship with the title "Code your way into a job". The job description is written entirely in code, allowing Woto to ensure only applicants with the correct skills gets the job.
Whoever cracks the coded criteria first and responds to the job in code will be rewarded with a paid internship with woto.com.
With writing being an essential part of the role, Woto said it saw no easier recruitment strategy than to post the actual job advertisement in code - a way to "separate the wheat from the chaff".
Ian Collins, CEO and Co-Founder of woto.com said: “Woto.com is a completely new type of digital publishing space, and with innovative products, you need like-minded people. A standard job advertisement would just not have been effective for this role.”
Ekin Caglar, CTO and Co-Founder of woto.com spoke of the importance of coding today: “The fact that code has just been introduced in schools shows the important role technology is playing in our future. As a company embracing the future, we want to employ young people who can ‘talk our talk’ but also learn and develop at the same rate as the technology around us is.”
