Cisco, the official network infrastructure provider for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and BT Conferencing today (Thursday) announced a series of live webinars focussing on London 2012.

The Cisco Interview Series will enable anyone, anywhere to interact with top Olympians and world class athletes ahead of the Games.

BT, the official communications services partner for London 2012, will combine its audio event service with Cisco’s collaboration technology WebEx to host the series. Over the next six months, some of the biggest names in sport will be getting involved in the initiative.

The first interview goes live on 11 January 2012, with double Olympic gold medallist, Iain Percy, interviewed by BBC Sport’s Jonathan Overend. The sailing legend will be logging on live from The Boat Show at 12:30pm (GMT) to answer questions on his sporting achievements and give his opinions on London 2012, as well as discussing the important link between technology and sport.

Other athletes scheduled to appear for future webinars in the Series include Olympian and 400 metre runner Roger Black and marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe.

Not only will the Cisco Interview Series enable anyone, anywhere special access to listen to the stories of top sporting stars, but the webinars, and Cisco’s WebEx technology supported by BT Conferencing, will also enable users to interact and engage with others regardless of their geographical location.

Built into each webinar will be an ‘Ask the Athlete Forum,’ where users can post their own questions, which may then be chosen and asked by the interview host. Participants will also be able to vote for their favourite question — increasing the chance of questions getting picked, as well as share their comments on social media sites.

Everybody who participates in the interviews will automatically be entered into a draw to win London 2012 Olympic or Paralympic Games tickets. All participants will also receive the opportunity to enjoy a special offer three month trial with BT and Cisco Webex.

“Next year’s London Games heralds a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the UK and we want everybody to share that excitement," Neil Crockett, MD Cisco London 2012 said.

"The Cisco Interview Series is a great way to bring people together and give everyone around the country the chance to listen to some of the most inspiring sporting stories.

"It is also a great opportunity for people to experience the benefits of interactive forums and conference calls from both a personal and business perspective. With the Games drawing closer, conferencing and collaboration will inevitably become an important part of flexible working and business life."
