Businesses and organisations wishing to have web addresses ending in their brand names have until the end of today (Thursday) to submit their applications.
Firms are able to have an alternative suffixing ending to .org or .com, for example .skysports or .virgin.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) plans to publish application details on 30 April, with companies being allowed up to 50 different suffix endings.
The ICANN have said that so far 839 users have made applications, although the cost of applying ($185,000), and the yearly maintenance cost ($25,000) meant that only major firms have applied.
