The rate of inflation in the UK remained at 0.3% in May, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) dropped to 0.3% in April - the first fall in around half a year.

The ONS said rises in transport costs, restaurant and hotel bills and the price of telecommunication services were the main upward contributors to change in the rate.

These upward pressures were offset by falls in the price of clothing, food and games, toys and hobbies.
