Reacting to Theresa May’s comments about the effect that independence for Scotland would have on cyber security, Stephen Bonner, a partner in KPMG’s Information Protection & Business Resilience team, focuses on the need for global collaboration to ensure online security.
“There are no borders on the Internet and citizens and companies will continue to be faced by the growing threat of cyber crime and cyber espionage," he said.
"However just as the UK is bringing together law enforcement response to cyber threats via the National Cyber Crime Unit, it will be critical to ensure that the response to these threats remains co-ordinated.
“Scotland needs to raise awareness of the issue and continue to work together with other countries to ensure a joined up response to a trans-national threat.”
