I spent September 8th hosting this event and found it a great use in understanding delegate’s questions, position and how the digital market is evolving for the small and medium enterprise (SME) space. I took several notes during the presentation and on the whole found that the presentations really demonstrated what can be done to move business forward in this space with a real focus on digital for small or reasonable investment. Below is a list of useful urls and an explanation of them which I feel will be of great use for all marketers.

Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic. Useful for monitoring your brand and competitors. In conjunction use getclicky.com which may provide a more detailed view than Google Alerts.

Slideshare has been around for a couple of years but it is a great way to generate a deeper understanding of your proposition and business in a shareable format , slides, documents and professional videos and forms part of social media due to it shareable nature. It’s also a great resource for finding out information on any topic you wish to consider further.

Google Toolbar, even though you may not like the information Google collects on your online habits through Google Toolbar for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Google Page Rank takes some beating as it allows you to understand how your page rank of your site and those of your competitors work; also useful when understanding your SEO. The Page Rank feature is in the Customise Tool bar button denoted by a wrench/spanner. The BBC has a page rank of 9, 10 being the top rank.

Double Click ad planner is another tool if you have high enough traffic on your site or within your market to understand where traffic is coming from and going to on your site and those of your competitors. It’s also useful in seeing where your audience may be based, and which sites they visit before and after your site.

Google adwords lets you see how many people have searched for the terms you are looking for to drive traffic to your site.

Alexia.com is another tool which gives marketers and understanding of their site and competitors also using a page rank system.

On the topic of social media a great US writer was identified Brian Solis and an indication of how not to try and control social media, where flogs were exposed.

Google web site optimiser free website test facility, but you have to have Google Analytics installed to use it.

Clicktale record visitor interaction on your web site for a nominal fee.

Cotweet Helps teams manage one or more Twitter accounts by providing tweet assignments, notes, and on duty status.

Social Mention is a social media search engine that searches user-generated content such as blogs, comments, bookmarks, events, news, videos, etc
