The Great British Entrepreneur Awards will celebrate the success of some of the nation's leading entrepreneur at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London tonight (Tuesday).
Following last month's shortlist announcement the grand final of the awards will see awards handed out in eighteen categories, including Digital Entrepreneur, Export Company and Serial Entrepreneur, which will be presented by Sir Steve Redgrave.
"It's entrepreneurs who have a dream to try and do something, and being able to push the boundaries by setting up their businesses. Most, if not all, big name businesses around the world have all been started by entrepreneurs that have made them into big household names, so there is no doubting their [entrepreneurs] importance to the economy," Sir Steve said.
Simon Burton, the founder of the awards, also praised the spirit of the country's entrepreneurs ahead of the ceremony.
"Entrepreneurs are the drivers of change," he said. "They are natural experimenters; questioning, disrupting and innovating. Even when their businesses don’t succeed entrepreneurs change markets for the better by challenging the received wisdom."
And speaking of the awards themselves Burton said it was not all about rewarding the businesses with the best turnover, but those who have the story of success too.
"The Great British Entrepreneur Awards are designed to recognise entrepreneurial endeavour and celebrate inspiring entrepreneurial spirit. Sometimes the story is more important than the balance sheet," he added.
The full ist of winners, as well as an overview of the awards ceremony itself, will be available on this website at 00:01 GMT Wednesday 20th November.
