Google has halted sales of the Google Glass, but insisted it is still committed to the smart glasses market.
The search giant said it would not be selling the current version of Google Glass anymore. Google said "future versions of Glass" will be developed by a different department.
Following its launch in the US in 2013 and in the UK in 2014 to developers, it was expected that a full consumer launch would arrive soon after.
Google said it will stop taking orders next week, but will continue to provide support for companies still using Glass.
Google has not given any timescale on when a new version of the product may launch.
