London's Tech City has been given a major boost with the news that Google is to lease a seven floor building in Shoreditch.
The building will play host to training sessions aimed at increasing the number of applications built for Google's Android smartphone operating system.
"Finding a suitable building is the first major step. East London is already home to hundreds of innovative British startups, and has huge potential for economic growth and new jobs over the coming years," Google said in a statement.
Silicon Roundabout in Old Street, where the building is based, already houses Last FM and Twitter's Tweetdeck, meaning Google will be locating amongst some of the leading technology startups.
