Global Radio is has announced that it is planning to roll out its London-based Capital brand nationwide next year by rebranding 10 existing radio stations.

Capital London will be joined by another regional eight stations.

Global Radio's founder and CEO, Ashley Tabor has said the venture will rival competitors Radio 1, which has 11.8 million listeners a week.

Ashley has commented that:

"With the launch of the Capital network there will now be a big national commercial brand seriously competing with Radio 1, in the same way that Heart now competes with Radio 2."
