The German government has approved the third Greek bailout.

453 MPs voted in favour of the bailout. 113 rejected and another 18 abstained.

During a heated debate before the vote, finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble warned that it would be "irresponsible" to reject the bailout.

Prior to the vote, 60 of Chancellor Angela Merkel's governing party indicated that they would vote against the €86bn ($95bn; £61bn) bailout. 47 members did not attend the session to avoid voting against the rest of the party.

Mr Schaeuble told parliament: "There is no guarantee that all of this will work and there can always be doubts.

"But considering the fact that the Greek parliament already approved most of the measures, it would be irresponsible not to seize this chance for a new beginning in Greece."
